Lemonade Recipe
Drinking a lot of fluids is very important in the control of kidney stones. Some liquids, such as, colas or tea, promote
the formation of Calcium Oxylate stones, which are the most common stones we see. Citrate acts as a stabilizer in the urine.
When the citrate level is too low, the crystals form and drop out of solution as stones. Some people with chronic bowel
diseases cannot absorb citrate from their diet through their bowels and this makes stones more common for them.
For most people who do not have a definite metabolic reason for their sotnes, hydration, or drinking a lot of fluids, can
limit stone formation. If the color of your urine is clear like water or very light in color, your probably are drinking enough
to help eliminate stones. Taking vitamins can sometimes promote stone formation. Vitamins high in Vit. C can cause stones to be
formed. Urologists have found that by both supplementing citrate as well as increasing the volume of liquids, can help to limit
new stones. As easy way to do this is with the following recipe for lemonade which comes from the USCF Stone Clinic.
